dev.wcities.com experience anyone?

i am working on a dev.wcities.com app for android. currently i'm just
going thru the api and issuing web urls to see the resulting xml so i can
get used to what to expect. the api 'guide' is only a rough estimate of
what they offer, how to form a request and what response to expect.
it's going fairly well, except for images. when i fetch back, say, the
artist detail, there are 'media' tags with 'links' available in them.
however, the main link for the artist image isn't really even a specific
single resource: it's a wikimedia web page. this makes it difficult to
show an image for the artist on the screen.
if anyone has any experience with dev.wcities.com apps of any kind, i
would be very appreciative if they could either advise or point me in the
right direction for better documentation.
